This is a list of manufactuters of drain water heat recovery units.
A drain water heat recovery unit uses hot drain water to pre-heat incomming cold water. These are common in high volume operations like commercial laundries. Home use is possible also, where they offer modest energy savings and extended shower length time without upgrading the water heater.
Vertical units are sometimes called 'falling film heat exchangers': water tends to stick to the inside of pipes, which makes for effecient heat exchange with no problems of slowing or storing dirty drain water.

In the United States the EPA has promoted the use of DWHR through various competitions. In Canada the state of Ontario now includes it as part of the building code in section SB-12, applying to all new construction.
